AWSJC Yard Sale
If you are looking for some items for your pets at bargain prices, you definitely have to stop by our yard sale! Over the years, we have accumulated so many extra things that we are running out of storage space. What better way to pass them on to our community members than a Yard Sale. These items are at prices you won’t believe! You’ll be glad you stopped by!
Howl-O-Ween Paws & Claws Dinner and Auction
Please come and join us for a fun evening. The night will feature a live auction as well as a silent auction. Come dressed as your alter-ego or as yourself. The evening includes a buffet style dinner of delicious entre choices, veggies, etc. and a tasty dessert table. There will also be a cash bar.
This is our major fundraiser of the year. It is because of wonderful people like you that we have been able to help care for the dogs & cats of Jefferson County for the past 74 years. Please come and join us to show your support.

AWSJC Rabies Clinic
Animal Welfare Society Drive Thru Rabies Clinic on November 14th -
The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County will be having their annual fall Rabies Clinic on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the Loyal Order of the Moose Pavilion at 77 Universal Forrest Product Rd. in Ranson, WV from 8:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m.
This clinic is a drive through clinic with pets staying in the car until their time of vaccination. To eliminate traffic congestion, please do not arrive earlier than 7:45. Dr. Alice Ellis, DVM will be vaccinating dogs and cats at 4 months of age and over. All dogs must be on a leash, and cats must be in carriers. No Feral Cats allowed. There will be a secure, enclosed area available to safely vaccinate cats.
The vaccination cost is $10.00 cash or check for each pet. If your pet has been previously vaccinated, you must bring previous Rabies Certificate to receive a three (3) year Vaccination and Certificate, otherwise, the vaccination will be valid for 1 year only. In addition, if this is your pet's first Rabies vaccine or they are overdue, the vaccine will be valid for one year. Show you care by vaccinating your pet on Oct 31st. AWSJC Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting of the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County will be held on November 14th, from 1PM - 3PM at the Shepherdstown Public Library. All members of the Animal Welfare Society as well as the general public are invited to attend and learn more about how AWSJC serves the community and the homeless dogs and cats in our area.
AWSJC is a tax exempt/charitable organization under IRC Code Section 501 (c) (3). All of our Board of Directors are and have always been unpaid volunteers who work tirelessly to carry out the mission that was established 74 years ago. If you are interested in becoming a Board of Directors member, a volunteer at our shelter or one of our fundraisers/events, or would like to foster a pet, please come and see what we are all about. We’d love to meet you.
The Bridge Gallery Hosts Annual Bazaar for AWSJC
We need your help for this popular event. Now is the time to look through your house, attic and garage and bring us those items that you wonder why you kept all these years. It’s time to give them a new home and by doing so you can help our dogs & cats that are looking for new homes. 100% of the sale proceeds go to the animals in our shelter and our Spay & Neuter Discount Coupon Program.
